Internship at the Gstaad Festival Orchestra

A representative video recording has to be sent with the application for an internship at the GFO.
Unless stated otherwise in the detailed list, the required works may be recorded and uploaded separately (please only upload videos that do not require any password or any download, e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).
Please find the specific requirements for each instrument below.

Closing date for applications: 15 January 2024, please refer to the application form.

Violin
- Mozart: first movement of one of the violin concertos (without cadenza) 
- A movement/piece written after Beethoven of your own choice 

Excerpts:
- Brahms: 4th symphony, 4th movement, 8 before „B“ (33) - „D“ (80)
- Strauss: Don Juan, first page

Viola
- Stamitz: Viola concert, 1st movement (exposition with cadenza) and 2nd movement (1-43) OR
- Hoffmeister: Viola concert, 1st movement (exposition with cadenza) and 2nd movement (1-31)

- Strauss: Don Juan
- Beethoven: 5th symphony
- Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Cello
- Exposition of Haydn Cello Concerto in D-Major & Cadenza
- Piece of your choice (i.e Bach, one movement of a sonata)

- Beethoven: 5th symphony, variations of 2nd mvt.
- Brahms: 2nd symphony, Adagio non Troppo

Double Bass
- Dittersdorf: Double bass concerto, 1st mvt. without cadenza (in orchestra tuning, with or without piano)

- Mozart: Symphony No. 40, 1st mvt
- Beethoven: Symphony No. 5, 3rd mvt without repeat
- Strauss: "A Hero's Live"

Flute & Piccolo
- Mozart: flute concerto KV 313 OR 314, 1st movement's exposition

The recording of the Flute and Piccolo repertoire should be made in a maximum of 2 videos, one with Mozart Flute concerto and Vivaldi Piccolo concerto, the other Video with all orchestral excerpts.

Oboe
- Mozart: Concerto 1st and 2nd mvt

- Bruckner: 5th Symphonie, 2nd movement
- Wagner: Parsifal; III. Akt: 2 tact after [256] - 4 tact before [258]
- Beethoven: 3rd Symphony: 2nd, 3rd & 4th movement

Basson
- Mozart: Bassoon Concerto KV 191/186e, 1st mvt with cadenza

Horn
A representative video recording of either
- Strauss: Concert No. 1, 1st mvt OR
- Mozart: KV 447, 1st mvt incl. cadenza OR KV 419, 1st mvt incl. cadenza OR KV 495, 1st mvt incl. cadenza OR
- Neuling: Bagatelle

Trumpet

It is to be recorded as an unedited runthrough with piano.

Excerpts:

All excerpts must be recorded as a runthrough, played unedited on a german rotary valve trumpet.

Trombone
A representative video recording of either
- F. David: Concerto, 1st mvt OR
- Grøndahl: Concerto, 1st mvt 

Excerpts:
- Mozart: Requiem, Tuba mirum: Beginning to [B]
- Strauss: A hero's live 2nd Trombone ("Kriegsszene": 3 after 60 to 3 before 66, and 3 before 69 to 74)
